Final Fantasy VII Remake

The game that defined a generation
The hype was real. Final Fantasy VII, the title that not only redefined RPGs but the games industry itself; was getting a remake. I was excited. You were excited. Square Enix were straight up euphoric.

This social and digital launch campaign needed a cinematic design language and core message to be used in both stills and dynamic assets, and captured the hell out of the incredible game to cut together highly targeted trailers, countdowns, and more, delivered in 7 languages for a Worldwide audience.

Socially Targetted Content

To keep fans (and fans to be) engaged with the multi-faceted game, the campaign required direct, easy to understand video content that told audiences exactly what they needed to know, but crucially still wanting more. Over 100 pieces of video content were delivered over an 8 week period to support the campaign from ‘Pre-Order’ and ‘Demo’ phases, right through to ‘Launch’ and ‘Post Launch’.

Numerous motion poster countdowns and templated art was created for internal teams to utilise. Whilst developing a unifying visual direction for all trailers and content to follow, ensuring cohesion across multiple languages and territories.

How To Play

Specifically created 1:1 video executions were created to balance the perception that FFVII Remake was a ‘difficult game’ to understand from a gameplay mechanic perspective.Short social videos were utilised that quickly and succinctly brokedown some of the key areas of gameplay.

Mini Games

One of the firm favourites from the 1997 classic were the mini-games within the original. Multiple executions were created highlighting the remakes ‘nostalgic nod’ to these fan favourites, from Darts to Squat workouts at the Gym. All served in a socially orientated package in the build up to launch.

Countdowns

Motion countdowns punctuated the days leading up to launch. Subtle animation along side key chosen characters and environments helped keep the campaign visually consistant, premium and cohesive from initial activations right through to launch day and beyond.
